December gives central Seoul a different evening rhythm. Earlier sunsets and colder air allow the route to move naturally from late afternoon into the illuminated city, making light part of how travellers experience the city.
During the festival, Cheonggyecheon features illuminated sculptures, lantern displays and media art along the stream. Reflections on the water add another perspective, with views from both stream level and the bridges above. As the programme changes each year, the route follows the displays available on the date of travel rather than relying on a specific installation.
